Il Brown Bess fu l’arma impiegata dai
soldati inglesi durante l’estensione e il
consolidamento dell’impero in India e
in America. Veterano della guerra dei
Sette Anni, fu utilizzato dagli uomini di
Wellington nella guerra della penisola
Iberica e a Waterloo. Le fanterie di quasi
tutto il mondo lo imbracciarono, dalle
nazioni europee alleate degli inglesi alle
truppe messicane, che lo utilizzarono
fino all’ultima battaglia della guerra con
gli Stati Uniti (Chapultepec, 13 settembre
1847).
Sull’acciarino della nostra replica sono
indicate sia la firma dell’armaiolo
William Grice (e la data 1762) sia le
cifre reali, con la corona e le lettere GR
(Georgius Rex). La canna, ad anima
liscia è in acciaio satinato e il calcio è
in noce lucidato a olio. A richiesta sono
disponibili la baionetta e il suo fodero.

The Brown Bess was the musket used
by the English troops during the Empire
extension and consolidation in India
and America. Veteran of the Seven
Years War, it was used also by
Wellington during the war in the
Iberian Peninsula and at Waterloo. The
infantry troops of almost the entire
world used it, from the European
Nations allied with the English to the
Mexican troops, who used it until the
last battle with United States on the 13 th
of September 1874 at Chapultepec.
Our reproduction has a lock with the
signature of the gunsmith William
Grice and the date 1762, the crown and
the alphabetical letters GR (Georgius
Rex). The smooth bore barrel is made of
steel, satin finish, the walnut stock is oil
finish. Available are the bayonet and
the scabbard.

Tra il 1756 e il 1813 il “Board of
Ordnnance” inglese dispone la realizza-
zione di alcune versioni più corte del
fucile regolamentare da Fanteria. Con
lunghezze di canna che variavano da 26
a 37 pollici, tali armi erano destinate ai
Dragoni, ai Granatieri, alla Reale Guar-
dia a cavallo, all’Artiglieria e ad alcuni
corpi di volontari.
La nostra replica della carabina si ispira
a questa serie di modelli e mantiene le
stesse caratteristiche del fucile Brown
Bess, come il calcio in noce e la canna
color argento vecchio.

Between 1756 and 1813 the English
“Board of Ordnance” required the
production of shorter versions of the
regular infantry musket. The barrel’s
lengths varied from 26” to 37”,
equipping the corps of the Dragoons,
the Grenadiers, the Royal Horse-
Guards and the Artillery, as well as
some volunteers corps.
Our reproduced carbine is inspired by
this series and keeps the same features
of the Brown Bess, like the walnut stock
oil finish and the satin finish of the
barrel.
