Paul Calle is an artist whose work reflects the dramatic era of America’s

Western heritage as well as the one in which he lives. For Paul Calle, the

dimensions of art can be as vast as the wild, wind-swept plains of the West,

as infinite as outer space and as small as the historic scenes he captures on

postage stamps for the United States Postal Service.

Paul Calle is a master of both the oil painting and the pencil drawing. His

drawings often very large show incredible control and sensitivity; they

have the quality of fine etchings.

In addition to major corporate and private collections, Calle’s artwork is

in the permanent collections of numerous prestigious institutions including

The National Portrait Gallery,

the

U.S. Department of the Interior

and the

Gilcrease Museum.

Paul Calle received the distinguished Nona Jean Hulsey Buyer’s Choice

Award at the Prix de West Invitational, presented by the National Cowboy

Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center.

Chris Calle

Chris, figlio dell’artista Paul Calle, è cresciuto nel mondo dell’arte western,

accompagnando fin da piccolo il padre nei suoi viaggi di “ricerca” nell’ovest

americano. Queste esperienze in giovane età hanno formato le basi del suo

profondo interesse nella storia del West e del suo desiderio di documentarlo

con il disegno e con la pittura.

I toccanti ritratti di Chris Calle, raffiguranti i rudi cacciatori delle montagne

e i fieri rappresentanti delle popolazioni native, raccontano la storia di coloro

che sono stati i veri protagonisti del leggendario West americano.

The son of Western Artist Paul Calle, Chris grew up around the world of

Western Art, often traveling with his father on research trips throughout the

American West. From a young age these experiences formed the basis of his

deep interest in the history of the American West and his desire to one day

document them in pencil and paint.

Chris Calle’s engaging portraits of the rugged men of the mountains and the

proud Indian tell the story of their lives, the story of the American West.
