La storia della Bernardelli è la storia della Valle Trompia, valle alle porte di Brescia nota per la
lavorazione di armi leggere. La presenza in questa valle di miniere di ferro ha determinato
l’interesse dell’impero romano che secoli fa aveva dominio sulla zona e già dal 15 a.C. vi sono
testimonianze di estrazione e lavorazioni del ferro utilizzato per la realizzazione di armi. La spe-
cializzazione e la cultura che ne è derivata non è mai cessata, si è modificata nei secoli passando
dalla produzioni di armi bianche da taglio alla produzione in un primo tempo di parti di armi
da sparo e successivamente alla realizzazione di armi complete. Le forme di produzione inizial-
mente artigiane si sono evolute e fra il 1600 e 1700 sono sorte le prime strutture organizzate,
anticipo delle odierne aziende.
Documenti oggi disponibili permettono di stabilire la data di nascita della Bernardelli nel 1721,
anche se si deve considerare il 1865 l’anno in cui Vincenzo Bernardelli ,coadiuvato dai suoi figli,
inizia una vera attività industriale con la produzione di Pistole per l’esercito. Dai primi anni del
1900 in avanti viene ampliata la gamma di prodotti realizzando fucili da caccia, le Doppiette,
il fucile per cui la Bernardelli è conosciuta nel mondo. La Bernardelli è stata la prima fabbrica
italiana a produrre, nel 1947, un fucile Semiautomatico. I Fucili e le Pistole Bernardelli sono stati
presentati e venduti in ogni parte del mondo. La Bernardelli è stata presente anche nel settore
delle armi militari. Negli anni ‘80 e ‘90, oltre alla classica produzione di Doppiette, la Bernardelli
ha progettato e realizzato anche un nuovo Sovrapposto ed una nuova Pistola bifilare.
Alla fine degli anni ‘90 la Bernardelli si è trasferita in una nuova sede alle porte di Brescia,
concentrando il proprio impegno nella produzione di Semiautomatici, Doppiette, Carabine,
Pompa. La gamma si è dunque ridotta ma tutto viene ancora prodotto con la medesima cura e
professionalità che nel tempo ha caratterizzato il marchio.
The history of Bernardelli mostly coincides with the history of Valle Trompia, a valley just outside the
city of Brescia, famous for the production of hunting and sporting firearms. When the Romans were
governing the region, it was the presence of iron ores that attracted their attention the most. The
first documents concerning the extraction of iron to be used for gun production go back to the year
15 B.C. This culture and specialization has never ended. It has changed over the centuries going from
the production of knives to firearm components first and complete firearms later. The first small arti-
san workshops evolved and between 1600 and 1700 they grew into organized structures precursors
of the modern gun making companies.
There are a few documents available today which date the beginning of Bernardelli back in 1721. It
was only in 1865 though that the founder, Vincenzo Bernardelli and his children, started to manu-
facture handguns for the army. In the early 1900s, Bernardelli started to expand its offering includ-
ing the hunting side by side shotguns which made the brand famous all over the world. Bernardelli
was the first Italian company to manufacture a semiautomatic shotgun in 1947. Bernardelli hand-
guns and shotguns were marketed and sold all over the world. Bernardelli was also very active in the
military sector. In the 80s and 90s next to the more traditional production of side by side shotguns,
Bernardelli engineered and manufactured a new over and under and a new double stack handgun.
At the end of the 90s Bernardelli relocated again to a new facility just outside Brescia, and since then
has focused on the production of semiautomatic shotguns, side by side shotguns, rifles, pump guns.
The range of product is smaller than it used to be, but everything is still manufactured with the same
attention to details and professionalismwhich have made the Bernardelli brand well known all over
the world.
